Mini icons

How do I get the mini icons to show at the bottom of my phone. I saw that posted on here recently and now I can't find it. I am using the HTC Touch. Oh yeah, I'm a total noobie so If anyone has the time to explain or direct me to the info, what is a kitchen, what is a flashed ROM and what is the purpose of it? Thanx, and I have much respect for all of you guys on here who create this stuff and are willing to help people out. Very good work. Keep it up, it is appreciated.
