App to selectively block caller id?

I use my phone for both business and personal calls.

Personal calls, I have no problem people seeing my # on caller ID so they know to answer it.

Business calls however, I would prefer not to let my customers know what my cell phone # is. (Currently my business phone line forwards to my cell phone, so they don't get my cell#)

What I'm looking for, is either a button on the dialer that'll indicate that caller ID is not to be shared on that phone call.... or an app that allows caller ID for people in the user's phone book/contacts list, and blocks it for everyone else.

My old motorola used to permit this, and I really miss that feature (Got my first PDA Phone Sept 06)

Re: App to selectively block caller id?

Just place *67 in front of the phone number. this blocks your number. Might not work on vonage systems. My office uses vonage and I can't block my number.

I dial "*67" before the number, when I need to hide my number.

Re: App to selectively block caller id?

I was not aware #67 would block caller ID on cell phones.... interesting.

I thought it only worked when dialing from a land line

Re: App to selectively block caller id?

For business locations that I call and want to block the caller ID with, I have them in my phone book with 2 entries; one with *67 prefixing the number and one without (so if someone does end up getting my cell phone number I see which location is calling). I just make sure to select the right number in the address book when I call.

Re: App to selectively block caller id?

Keep in mind that *67 will not hide your number from any toll free calls (800, 888, 866, etc) and a lot of business systems that utilize AIN. These calls will allow your number to be visible whether you dial *67 or not.

Re: App to selectively block caller id?

You can use MagiCall to prefix digits to outgoing calls, and it can be setup to do it for specific numbers, phone book entries, groups, etc. Its all setup as rules and the rules can be turned on/off easily, can even be scheduled to only work at certain times.

MagiCall is also the best app I've ever used for call blocking as well, I tried Call Firewall and it was very slow to respond, my phone would still ring once or twice before the software caught it. With MagiCall, the only way I would know it had blocked a call was if I turned on the notification.
