Re: Damaged mini USB port
How would one go about 'swapping phones'?
Can't they just look at the ESN and tell it's not their phone they will service? or do they track it by customer name? Or... are you talking about calling sprint and telling them we're switching... won't they be able to track it? |

Re: Damaged mini USB port
you get any crappy phone and have it swapped to your account.
give a friend your touch who already has insurance for a while and have them swap it into their account. your friend goes with you to a sprint store to have the phone serviced. after phone is serviced, reverse the above process... of course this will only work if you have a good friend willing to do it for you..

great... so now i need to find a 'friend' willing to do this, how long does the process take? will they suspect if I go to the sprint store right after the swap? |

Re: Damaged mini USB port
the swap itself could take anywhere from a couple of minutes to an hour depending on the wait time and the expertise of the rep who's attending you... i'd recommend calling *2, say "technical support" and then "other PDA's" and that should get you to a rep who's knowledgeable enough to work with you. at the sprint store it could take a long time or a short time depending on how full it is, now i do not know if they will fix the device like they would any other phone (for free), or charge your friend the $50 fee for either (damage not covered under waranty or the fact that the phone isn't covered at all under normal waranty), my guess is the latter. The whole process (from first swap to second swap) will probably take a long time, so be ready... and when you swap your device back, ask them if they can add insurance to your phone... i'm not sure but i think you can add insurance on swapped phones 15 days after a swap... or something like that, doesn't hurt to ask

Re: Damaged mini USB port
yeah i pay $7/mo too. but thats for TEP which covers pretty much everything.. physical damage, water damage, stolen, lost, repairs, etc.. while the $4/mo insurance only covers repairs/replacements for general wear & tear.
