Is there no way to get GPS on stock ROM's

Is it the radio/6.1 upgrade that opens up the GPS. Not sure why there is no way of getting it to work on stock Rom.

Yes, an easy way to explain it: The phone needs the new Radio 3.37.xx installed to enable the phones built-in GPS hardware. The phone needs the new ROM to accomadate the new Radio and includes the files it needs to make GPS data accessable to wm6.x which can pass that data on to other programs.
