Every time I do a hard reset, I have to call and re-authenticate my phone. I have done 2 or 3 hard resets with just the stock ROM, no change to the radio, etc., just a standard hard reset.

I just flashed my phone yesterday--thanks to Negamann for the help--and I even changed my ESN to a different phone, but when I changed my ESN back to my Touch, I STILL had to call to re-authenticate.

Regardless, I've never had them question me when I call in.

(The odd thing is that I previously had a Motorola Q, and I never had to call them after doing a hard-reset... this is the first phone I've ever had with VZW that has forced me to do so...)

Anyway (and sorry to ramble), the bottom line is that I don't think anyone should worry about calling VZW to authenticate their phones because whether you do a standard master reset, or upgrade your radio and flash with a cooked ROM, you may still have to call them!

Re: Verizon XV 6900 - Who's Flashed?

I had to reauth every time i flashed. Then i saw a tip to auth another phone first, then flash, then reauth. It seems that if your radio is on and you flash to another rom, it cause a hiccup in their system. Like maybe they expect to see 1 config and see another. Anyway, I now put m phone in airplane to shut all radio and data off, then flash. So far, havent had to reauth after flashing. (prob will happen now..)

I'm trying it out. It's pretty hungry on the memory..I'm at 53% as opposed to 35% I had with DH's.

But I like it. It runs pretty well and doesn't have any obvious glitches I can see.

I'd put it right up there with DH's. Kudo's for the hard work!

I'm trying it too. So far so good, it seems nice and quick even though the memory is at 55%.
I'm planning to stick with it for awhile. Great job, thank you.

FYI- I am still running my stock rom and have had problems with the phone in the past few weeks. I have held off trying to update because of it. I called VZW tech support and they had me do a hard reset. I was told that every time you do a hard reset on this phone you have to call tech support so they can give you the "Akey." Thought I would pass this along.

Re: Verizon XV 6900 - Who's Flashed?

I use vzw and I've flashed countless times without issues. GPS works, I never have to call VZW to reauthenticate, and I have all the extras like TomTom 7, Garmin XT (the best), Opera, etc. Until you're comfortable with the whole thing only do vzw specific ROMs.
PPCHaven.com has a Verizon Haven thread that's quickly growing . Check it out. This site is amazing but it's mostly Sprint guys here though they will do whatever it takes to help out others. I've been helped lots by these guys here so don't be afraid to PM someone asking for help or posting new threads.

Currently using Negamann's 303 ROM which works great. Others that I've tried and are also good are any by Dharvey, OMJ, and Nexvision but that's just me. Experiment and give feedback and you'll get more updates.

Re: Verizon XV 6900 - Who's Flashed?

Can anyone tell me what they have found to be the best rom that contains Mobile Office in it for the XV6900?

DHarvey's or Whosdaman seems to work the best., that's just my opinion.
