On the other hand, they did try to intimidate me... or at least is seemed so... when I called in last night to authenticate. "Why did you hard reset?" "You shouldn't need a new A-key after a hard reset". "What had you done to your phone". "I see that you did *228 earlier, why did you do that?". I just basically answered, "look. it was messed up. I reset it. Now it doesn't work. Are you going to help me or do I need to look for another carrier.". Lord I hope I don't have to call back and get the same VZW tech today. ![]() |

Re: Verizon XV 6900 - Who's Flashed?
HAHA nobody give them answers! Like people in the ghetto do to cops! Sounds like they are catching on to us but not quite lol. Either that or they have to do work lately and they don't like that at all. I love it! I wonder how many xv6900 authenticate calls they get a day?

Do you remember the phone cops episode of "WKRP in Cincinnati"? LMAO Just because we're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after us. |

=D> Interesting though that I just replaced my phone - and hacked it again - to find that this time - after upgrading my radio - I DID NOT HAVE TO RE-AUTHENTICATE. My last 2 xv69's had to reauthenticate - so maybe they fixed it or maybe I slipped through the cracks. Funny story about the tech's catching on: I bricked my phone b/c the D-pad was broken - I took it to a VZ service person - it booted and the "Press screen to align" came up - and after 2 clicks it hard reset again. Her response "We'll get you a new phone come back in 20 minutes." All they do is plug in the phones to transfer contacts and then activate the phone - they're not going to look at the radio. Every time I do a hard reset, I have to call and re-authenticate my phone. I have done 2 or 3 hard resets with just the stock ROM, no change to the radio, etc., just a standard hard reset. I just flashed my phone yesterday--thanks to Negamann for the help--and I even changed my ESN to a different phone, but when I changed my ESN back to my Touch, I STILL had to call to re-authenticate. Regardless, I've never had them question me when I call in. (The odd thing is that I previously had a Motorola Q, and I never had to call them after doing a hard-reset... this is the first phone I've ever had with VZW that has forced me to do so...) Anyway (and sorry to ramble), the bottom line is that I don't think anyone should worry about calling VZW to authenticate their phones because whether you do a standard master reset, or upgrade your radio and flash with a cooked ROM, you may still have to call them! |
