Thanks for the infor. but I usually try to find it when I buy the phone and save it for just in case and before it gets lost somewhere in the net, or links die

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing

Mine has also developed a crack Just noticed it today. I would just change the case out for a HTC grey case, but at $45 on ebay (from above post) I think I will have Verizon bite the bullet on this one. Does anyone know what ROM the replacement phones are shipping with. I would hate to lose functionality just to fix a small crack.

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing

The ROM was the standard OEM rom on the two replacement phones they sent me. They will send you a refurb. Now that the "official 6.1" is out they may give you that but the functionality OEM wise wont change other than you can pay the vzw thieves for GPS with "vznavigator" if you want to. You wont loose any abilty to have the same functionality if you used the standard OEM.

If you flashed roms though you will have to reflash and rebuild of course. You of course will also have to rebuild all the bells and whistles you had on your phone. I reccomend filing your software cabs, rars, zips etc... that you like on your sd card or pc before you send of your phone. Be sure to get all your contacts etc... backed up using pim or some other back up.

And do a hard reset to clear your personal stuff before you send. Dont forget to remove your sd card....

This all makes your rebuild easier.

Yeah $45.00 sounds steep the first time. But after replacing the phone through insurance twice and spending $50.00 each time its the cheaper fix for a perm solution in the long run.

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing

Second phone, second time cracking in the same place for me. I've over this cracking business. I think I may just bite the bullet and move away from the XV6900.

I went out and bought a hard cover for mine, so it's been protected. I took the cover off twice in many months just to look for crackers and sure enough this last time there was a crack again just above the volume slider.

Thankfully I've got all of my data saved using Dashwire so when I move to the new phone (probably going to be the Omnia), I should be able to just download/install Dashwire , sync and be in good shape.
