Upgrading made easy

HI team, I have now been cooking and flashing J now for about 6 months, during those months I have learnt a lot and thought I would write up a quick guide to upgrading the ROM.

One of the most important things that has got me out of some trouble is the good old “Welcome Screen” . There are a lot of applications and functions that don’t start up on the phone until you go past this screen so a lot of times when your phone becomes unstable it is normally always stable at this stage. Also I like to flash from my SD-Card but for this guide we won't be programming that way, I would suggest reading up on it as sometimes it is the only way to bring your phone back to life.

Lets get started
1) Register with this website as you need to member of this to run the BuildOS software

2) Download the software
You need to download the 2.31 locker HERE.
Download the real Aeltel ROM HERE.
Download BuildOS

3) Install software
The only software you need to install is BuildOS, during the install it might ask you to check for updates, if not as soon as it is installed select the updater.
There are 3 types of files
Application files
Custom OEM
ROMS
You should download all the latest Applications files and Custom OEM, and you need to download at least 1 ROM for your phone, don’t go overboard downloading all the ROMs for your phone at the beginning as it can take a long time to download the ROMS, I would go for the Vogue_WM6.1_no2chem_19209 Selections

While this is updating you can program your phone
4) Factory Reset your phone by pressing the Green& Red button and pressing reset
5) Let your phone startup to the “Welcome Screen” Don't go any further
6) Connect your phone to your PC
7) Run the Unlocking making sure you read the instructions
Once completed let your phone reboot back to the Welcome screen Don't go any further
9) Run the Aeltel ROM update NOTE this will take about 10 minutes and it will appear to crash at about 11% and reboot your phone and take forever to carry on, this is normal leave it to alone and it pick it self back up after about 30~60 seconds.
10) Once the phone is updated and back to the “Welcome Screen” you then need to cook yourself a custom rom in BuildOS, DON’T go past the “Welcome Screen”
11) Start up the BuildOS application and log in using you PPCGEEKS login
12) Select the ROM you downloaded
13) For the first ROM, copy my default selections, after that play to get what you want
Select your carrier
BT Quicklink
SPB Tech Calculator
Comm Manager 10 button
PocketRar
Adobe Reader
Office (all of them)
HTC Camera Album
HTC Vogue Camera
Esmertec Jbed Java
HTC Audio Manager
HTC Voice Recorder
HTP WMP Skin
Google Maps
HTC Network Plugin
Remote Desktop Mobile
HTC Smartdialing
HTC Vogue Dialler
Phone Boost
ClearType on
Transcriber
Symbol Pad Input Method
HTC Touch Keyboard
Intellipad
HTC Diamond Qwerty
MP3 Trimmer
ClearStorage
AutoUpdate
HTC Task Manager
HTC Grey Theme
HTC Home Customizer
HTC GHome
HTC Home Color Icon
HTC Home
FTouchFlo
HTC ThouchFlo w/Biotouch
Generic
Microsoft Voice Command

Now press the green button

You might get a lot of error messages about file existing, that’s cool just overwrite.
Once the build is completed it will then try to flash to your phone, your phone should be at the ”welcome screen”, if not Factory reset it and get it back to this point.
Flash the ROM and you are done

For TNZ customers finish the upgrade by dialling *22800 to reprogram the PRL, also if you data connection drops go to settings, phone, services, Mode of operation and change to 1X

Let me know how you guys go but this seems to always work for me.
Remember “perform this at your own risk and misuse could the user to loose hair and hearing (due to never hearing the end of it from your co-workers”
