problems sync'ing my phone to my laptop

i have a problem syncing my phone to my laptop using active sync so i thought if i ended partnership with my computer then try and reestablish a partnership it will work better but now my computer doesn't recognize my touch so i am unable to establish a partnership
anyone have any ideas what i should do?
