Touch GPS help please

I have JDs ROM with the 3.37 radio and my GPS experience so far has been hit and miss. I have not had the problems that some have described with it working one day then not the next. My problem is that it takes FOREVER to get a fix. I will open up gps viewer and it will take 10-15 minutes to get a fix. Once it gets one it works great. It doesnt matter if I am outside in the middle of a field it will still take that long. Once I close gps viewer and come back and need to use it again later I have to wait another 10-15 minutes. I tried the GPS today prog but it will get a fix once ever few hours at the most. Can anyone help with this?
