Here is a little update on iGo memory issue with HtC Mogul, I have notice one main issue that has come to light.. I have been using S2U2 on my Mogul since it first came on the scene and I love it but the one thing I noticed is that it takes more memory than I noticed before when running with iGo 8 on unit.. I decided to test my thought and removed S2U2 from my unit and now iGo N runs faster and smoother now and I even have enough memory to use TTS audio files without getting low memory errors.

After checking further I learned S2U2 was using almost 6mb of memory and this was why this made diffrence I guess also I installed the latest Tek Speedbooster software and it really improved my Moguls response time but I have one question, I got use to using S2U2 for my fullscreen caller ID and I was wondering do anyone know a good app to supply a full screen caller id like S2U2?

Re: Anyone using iGO 8

I have iGo8 8.3.1 running beautifully on my HTC vogue, with one and only one problem. If I try to use the "Power Management" setting "smart power save" where it dims the backlight automatically when no turn is approaching, my phone shuts off in line with the phone's native power feature and iGo never wakes it back up. If I disable the phone's native setting that turns off the screen, then the "smart power save" setting in iGo8 works great, dimming and undimming the screen appropriately, and the screen never turns off. With the "Power Management" setting in iGo8 to "backlight always on" the phone's native power settings are ignored and the backlight stays on, even if the phone is natively set to turn off the screen. The screen never dims in this iGo8 power mode. This makes me think that iGo8 is able to prevent the backlight from timing out and dimming, but not prevent the screen from shutting off.

Another individual over at gpsunderground.com was able to fix some power problems by setting the right phone name in his sys.txt. There is an htc.ini file in config/device/, also in data.zip, that specifies some power settings, however the gps settings included there are wrong for the vogue. I did try adding the power settings found there to my sys.txt, with no effect on my problem.

Is anyone with a Vogue able to run in "smart power save" WITHOUT changing your phone's native power setting to not turn off the screen?

Re: Anyone using iGO 8

IGO 8.3.2.64029 does not find my real position on the map. If I put an address then it will show that address on the map. But if I want to locate myself then no all I see is the triangle and a blank black if it night or green half blue screen in the day time.

My GPS signal is all the way to the top though and it say connected to receiver. What should I do next?

Re: Anyone using iGO 8

After finding this site and xda and all the massive ammounts of incredible info....
Ispent about 2 weeks reading and adjusting and flashing etc.
my vogue is runningthe NFSFANS 104 rom and I have try'd and cry'd while hunting for ANYreally good apps Freeware etc...

I found Terracrosser..it works but the maps are HUGE files and dont look very nice on the screen... I'd love to try TomTom but havn't been able to "FIND" it yet.
Same with iGO.... that said and all burned out I tried my streets and trips...cant find a new enough version for reading my 2008 files!
GRRRRRR!!!.......

I just found my old Delorme Street atlas USA 2008 software disk.
pop'd it in the computer and voila!!!... SUUUUPER HAPPPY!!! AND legal!!

Works NICE!,
(better than on PC!..Hated the PC version confusing..Streets and trips is my favrit)
looks good,
TTS works...although i'd lke it to say turn left at next intersection...instead of "go north".. I know north so its not a problem...but if yer lost yer lost...lol.

& I do not need gps viewer running in the background!
probably better to not ve anything running in the background.

my phone's not even activated...so NO data plan, no phone plan..NO PHONE#!!!

to create a map for export:
I can pick squares from a grid overlayed on the map (and skip the hoboken towns!) and basically trace the main highways and towns I want.

when cold the gps lock takes about 3 minutes.
after that a re-lock is about 1 minute.
now all i gotta do is figure out how to adjust the powersave option settings in the phone.
cause if your not moving the power save can kick in and you need ta re-lock....
what a pain when stopping for gas and food etc!
