Re: Anyone using iGO 8

Adam,

I will assume you are using the Susan EnglishUS voice but if not, the principle remains the same.

Go to post #120 and download the zip file EnglishUs6.9.zip. Extract the zip file and you will have a file named "EnglishUs6.9.lex". Open the lex file with notepad on your PC.

Add a line anywhere within the lex file: "M17" = "Milton Road"

Include the quotes and space before and after the equal sign.

Now on your Vogue, find the original EnglishUs6.9.lex file located on your microSD card\iGO8\tts_loq|EnglishUs folder. Rename it to something else so that the modified file will not replace it. Copy the modified lex file to the same folder and start iGO8.

Plan a route traveling to Milton Rd so that the route will enter Milton Rd at some point. Use the "slow" route simulation so that you will hear the voice guidance (in the Route Menu, click on the car icon on the bottom right of the screen).

Let me know if you encounter any problems.

I am on the same boat as you, got iGo8 but can never lock on GPS, open Google and Live Search, both locked within seconds.

Re: Anyone using iGO 8

Is anyone else having issues with iGO8 on the new Sprint ROMs? I can load the program fine using AstroGPSLauncher, but if I try to use the iGO8 shorcuts it just hangs on the loading screen once it gets to "Starting." It's not really a problem, since I can still load it with AstroGPS like I used to, but it is strange that it won't load at all now without it. Before it would load up fine, it just wouldn't find the GPS chip. Maybe a residual setting on my storage card is causing it to keep looking for the GPS hardware through whatever method that AstroGPS uses to initiate it?

Re: Anyone using iGO 8

One thing that annoys me with iGO8 is that sometimes it just refuses to start. No idea why... it's fine after a soft reset.

I have the exact same thing happening. I've read that it has to do with the HTC home plugin and disabling it is supposed to help. I am using UltimateLaunch and it is suppose to disable the HTC home plugin when not on that screen but I still have occasional problem with iGO8 starting up.

Did you try to "prime" your gps receiver before starting iGO8. Try running first GoogleMaps then try to start iGO8 or use Astrolauncher shortcut to start it.

I am not seeing any problems with iGO8 loading directly from the Nav N Go iGO shortcut after upgrading from the leaked Sprint ROM to the official Sprint ROM.

I'm having the exact same problem.... what custom rom are you using? NFSFan's by any chance?
