Re: Anyone using iGO 8
Ok so i am in Australia - Brisbane
When using TTS and on Milton Road the TTS calls it M17 i wish to edit a file if possiable to change the name of this road to say Milton rd??? Thanks Adam |
Re: Anyone using iGO 8
Adam,
I will assume you are using the Susan EnglishUS voice but if not, the principle remains the same. Go to post #120 and download the zip file EnglishUs6.9.zip. Extract the zip file and you will have a file named "EnglishUs6.9.lex". Open the lex file with notepad on your PC. Add a line anywhere within the lex file: "M17" = "Milton Road" Include the quotes and space before and after the equal sign. Now on your Vogue, find the original EnglishUs6.9.lex file located on your microSD card\iGO8\tts_loq|EnglishUs folder. Rename it to something else so that the modified file will not replace it. Copy the modified lex file to the same folder and start iGO8. Plan a route traveling to Milton Rd so that the route will enter Milton Rd at some point. Use the "slow" route simulation so that you will hear the voice guidance (in the Route Menu, click on the car icon on the bottom right of the screen). Let me know if you encounter any problems. |

Re: Anyone using iGO 8
Is anyone else having issues with iGO8 on the new Sprint ROMs? I can load the program fine using AstroGPSLauncher, but if I try to use the iGO8 shorcuts it just hangs on the loading screen once it gets to "Starting." It's not really a problem, since I can still load it with AstroGPS like I used to, but it is strange that it won't load at all now without it. Before it would load up fine, it just wouldn't find the GPS chip. Maybe a residual setting on my storage card is causing it to keep looking for the GPS hardware through whatever method that AstroGPS uses to initiate it?

Re: Anyone using iGO 8
One thing that annoys me with iGO8 is that sometimes it just refuses to start. No idea why... it's fine after a soft reset. ](*,)

Re: Anyone using iGO 8
Another problem I have... which I'm not sure if there is a fix for.
I've got the TTS voices installed (Susan Hi-Quality) but the volume of that TTS voice is so much quieter than the other non-TTS voices... not sure if anyone has a fix for that? |

Soft reset and its gone, but annoying as hell. I can't get the internal GPS to work with the new rom and iGO8 either. Will try the astro soon. |

Re: Anyone using iGO 8
So IGO 8 not launching isn't specific to a custom ROM. It appears to be related to the revision of Wm6.1 you are running. I used to run mustan-tech WM6.1 ROM (an early version) and it launched everytime. After upgrading to NFSFan's ROM, and hence a newer revision of WM6.1, the problem appears.

But then I re-enabled the plugin, and iGo8 started again fine. :( |
Re: Anyone using iGO 8
Same issue with the new official Sprint rom. Strange, I was able to get it past the loading screen by actually turning the screen off and on repeatedly, and once I screwed around in that fashion...the program became more and more responsive until it worked fine. This was WITHOUT "priming" the GPS (I typically use TGPS to start up the GPS).
I plan on playing around with it more to see if there is another way to get it working properly from the start. ---- Revision ---- I reset the device, loaded up TGPS, loaded iGO up, and it started up immediately. |
Re: Anyone using iGO 8
astrolauncher seems not to be working with the new sprint rom :-( I have tried both manual install and via a .cab It makes the correct directory and the launcher is there, but it doesn't start.
Nor does the iGO8 .lnk work to start up astro and igo8 any ideas? |

EDIT: upon further review, astrolauncher must be working; if i launch igo8 via igo8.exe, there's no GPS signal. launching from the shortcut, GPS is activated and ready to go... |

There is a NEW VERSION of iGO 8: Nav N Go iGO 8 v 8.0.0.41506 (June 3 release) which appears to fix the startup issue. You do not have to disable to HTC Home plugin for it to work. I've been testing it over the last few days and iGO will start consistently with the new Sprint ROM. Some of the older skins will not work with it but this new version seems to have the fix. Hope this helps. |

Re: Anyone using iGO 8
could someone post the link to the newest iGo8 OEM or cab, or pm the link to me? i have the OEM that came with the kitchen pack, but cannot get it to work.
thanks in advance. |
Re: Anyone using iGO 8
The new June version .4whatever allows me to run iGo without rebooting. If you're using the new version don't forget to update your POIs, there are new ones out. Theres also new maps for the US, although they're still 2007 maps.
|
Re: Anyone using iGO 8
Yeah the astorlauncher for Igo seems to work for me now as well with the new version. Currently downig the newer maps. Hopefully they are a little better. What do you mean by updating the POI's though? third party?
[EDIT] Ok I got the new maps. And running the new version. My problem now is that my internal GPS can't find any satelites at night nor does the GPS port and baud rate i my sys.text file seem to affect iGO8 anymore. It is set to com 4 38400 baud rate, but every time I start it up the program is under com 5 57600. Anyone else with these problems? |

Darnit, So i fixed the initial gps lock function at night, I changed the agps settings to 4 i.o. setting 2. This is suppose to be a hybrid mode which enabled AGPS. Got a lock last night cold in less than 10 sec. Still have the problem however having to manually change the gps to com 4 baud rate 38400. I have it set up that way in my sys.txt but it always reverts back to com 5 57600 A new problem which I thought was resolved with the new version. iGO8 didn't start up this morning. I had to soft reset. Hopefully this was an anomaly. |
Problems with Susan TTS voice
After upgrading to the new Sprint ROM, I have been having problems with iGo8. I have managed to get it working again, with the exception of the Susan TTS voice. Has anyone figured out the steps to make it work with the new ROM and with iGo 41506?
|
Re: Anyone using iGO 8
All I did is copy and replace with the new version and new maps. (also running the new sprint rom). I did not replace the TTS_q log files though. left those intact.
|
Re: Anyone using iGO 8
Thanks - I found a different version of Susan ("high quality") and that solved it. However, it turns out that the June release (v41506) of iGo8 can't use the old POI files. So I'm back to the March release.

[phone] driver="TAPI" exe_path="\Windows\cprog.exe" win_name="Phone" I found that there are two locations that the sys.txt can exist. One in the /storage card/IGO8 and the other in the /Program Files/IGO8. IGO8 uses the one in the Program Files. So make sure you change the one in the program files. Hope this helps. |

Re: Anyone using iGO 8
alright.
i was able to get astrolauncher properly shortcutted with igo8. and its FLAWLESS. my question is.. when i exit out of igo8 is gps still running, depleting my battery? or do i need to rerun astrolauncher to disable gps? or when i get done using igo should i goto settings to disable gps?? this really is awesome because.. astro is launched first, and while igo8 is loading up, astro is priming the gps.. so when im right into igo8's map, gps is already locked on full with high accuracy. amazing. |
