Possible Garmin XT time change fix and other important stuff.

I have a Bell Vogue and it's presently running the OMJ WM 6.1 GPS Bell Rom. Which is very sweet by the way. Thanks OMJ! I set Garmin XT's GPS settings to manual (Serial com 4). No problems after that.

I used to have the Ghettofreeryder V7 Rom installed. I could not receive phone calls or texts when the GPS was on. Be sure to test your phone and it's functions when the GPS is running. I hope this helps some people. It was really bugging me!!

I'm sorry. I thought that this problem only affected the Vogues running Garmin XT. Running version 4.20.20wp now. I read the post about newer versions. It affected version 4.20.20wp also.

Re: Possible Garmin XT time change fix and other important stuff.

4.20.20 was the only one people didn't have problems with. The problem builds where 4.20.30,4.20.40.
Now 4.20.50 is out HERE post #251 and it works for me so far.

I read that 4.20.20 worked. That's why I installed it. But I was able to duplicate the time change error using the GPS Intermediate Driver. After I switched to COM4 there were no problems.

Re: Possible Garmin XT time change fix and other important stuff.

Hey tripper, I'm on Bell as well, in Vancouver, BC.

I know what you mean about Garmin changing the date and time when in use. I was using 4.20.40w before and now am using 4.20.50w, the problem is still there. I'm not sure what the issue is but hopefully it'll get fixed in a later release.

I started a topic in the rom upgrade section. I was also using Ghetto's rom until an hour ago. I reflashed because I noticed today that i wasn't receiving any incoming calls. I thought it was just a garmin problem since I had tomtom working with incoming calls before but then I don't recall ever receiving one when I flashed to Ghetto's rom. I did numerous tests and found that when gps is active, you won't receive any calls. Good to know that you also found that. I'm now on jd's test rom and receiving incoming calls now...how's OMJ's rom? does it have the same problem?

Warning to those using Ghetto's v7 REV A/GPS rom, you may want to check to see if you're getting incoming calls.

Re: Possible Garmin XT time change fix and other important stuff.

Even with the latest excellent OMJ rom and the latest version of Garmin XT I can duplicate the time reset error. Bell Vogue / Htc Touch users and hopefully others. Save yourself the headaches by doing the folowing and you should be very happy like me.

- install the latest OMJ Bell GPS Rom
- install Garmin XT 4.20.20 (later versions don't seem to work very long for me)
- in Garmin XT disable the GPS and change it to com4 instead of intermediate. Then enable.
- everything should work including incoming calls during GPS use

Now enjoy your GPS while talking, surfing, texting etc. A big thanks to OMJ!

Re: Possible Garmin XT time change fix and other important stuff.

I believe by switching from intermediate (actually from WM API to COM4 emulation) you've disabled Assisted GPS.

Try switching to GPSMode=4 which also uses assist but is somehow does not use resources enough to interfere with calls or data. I read it somewhere but I cannot find that info again. Search for GPSMode in registry.
