Re: Great Browser for Touch??
I prefer Opera 9.5 over PIE. I understand that Opera Mini is faster though. I plan on installing that with a tweak I found sometime this week to give it a honest shot.

Re: Great Browser for Touch??
I use opera mobile 95% of the time. I'll load up skyfire just to see what a page would look like if I know it has a lot of flash content.
If someone could make a hack for opera that worked like flash video bundle for IE then i'd probably get rid of skyfire. Skyfire is a nice browser but scrolling is too slow...It feels like i'm using a remote desktop application. I can only imagine how much bandwith it's churning up just to browse the same sites as I would on my opera. |

I agree with you on that. In a way, you are using a remote desktop application >>> Skyfire is server-side rendered when you receive sites on your phone (the Skyfire software does not render the web pages on your device ... Skyfire is almost like a more advanced viewer a la Picsel, but with Flash and the ability to play sound on webpages, like music from MySpace profiles). That is the reason for the poor transitioning. Opera Mini is also server-dependent, but its speed is fast because of its lack of support of the more advanced web protocols that Skyfire is written for and has to repeatedly render within its servers and then send to devices. The problem I had with Picsel and Skyfire is that you can't download or upload anything. I have no problem with that in Opera Mobile. NetFront is ok, but the newest update that lasts through August 31 still does not get enough right to be useful. But, at least there are plenty of choices. Too bad most have too much work needed. Opera is the best IMO, though. While it loads unusually slow in the latest build (9.5 1.something, posted today somewhere in the forum), I find it the best all-around. I will continue to use Skyfire for some sites until Apple finally gives in and buys a WM license to program Safari Mobile on WM 6/6.1. Iris and Wave3 still have not released any useful material for the beta-testing communities to evaluate. Iris has released something, but it sucks so bad that I call it "nothing" . Good luck to you in your browser search.

Re: Great Browser for Touch??
Reading this thread made me just about to download skyfire (I have an invite) until someone mentioned that it cannot download. What a drawback!
