Installation Unsuccessful

I have all of a sudden lost the ability to install applications. Whether using a Windows installer or the cab file, all I get after an attempted installation is a message indicating that the Installation of <application name> was unsuccessful.

I did some research but failed to come up with anything useful. What I did find is that on some other units there could be an issue known as application locking. I don't know how that would have occurred all of a sudden on my Touch, but the remedies haven't really seemed pertinent.

I'd really appreciate it if some of the folks here could provide some insight.

If all else fails it might just be easier to hard reset
