Activating GPS without GPS Viewer for google or livesearch?

Hello,

If I go to GPS viewer, select COM4 and OPEN GPS - I can go to GOogle maps immediately and look get GPS location same with live search. If I don't and I go to live search it says waiting for GPS for a couple of minutes.

Is there an easier to activate the GPS before going into one of my gps mapping programs?

As of right now there's not really a better way. This is the same issue they had with the Titan/Mogul beta/leaked ROM. Once the official GPS ROM came out, those problems went away.

I have not tried GPSViewer but Google Maps seems to work fine. Takes about 1 minute with clear sky and COLD GPS boot (i.e. off at least 8 hr's). If it's a soft start it takes a few seconds.

I have the same problem you describe with iGuidance/GPSGate. If I don't use Google Maps it will wait for GPS a long time.

Thanks - is there any way to save the settings so that it automatically goes to Com4 in GPS Viewer? Any way to make a command line batch file?

Check the link above. The post deals with internal gps. About a third of the way down, he talks about GPS viewer, and that he edited the file to come up as com 4. Download it and it works.
