Re: Any luck for Bell Mobility user with the new Alltell rom

dang for some reason the sats don't wanna stay put for me. I am in halifax and tried both indoors and out, with outdoors doing obviously better than in. Can you get a stable lock with googlemaps and will it stay with you when driving?

gps is working fine with googlemaps, still waiting to test it with tomtom
I've heard people mention that Garmin Mobile and Googlemaps is working. Does TomTom work with the new GPS rom? If it does work, I would then consider doing the upgrade.

yes, the GPS is working very well. I can get reception inside and outside, driving or standing still, 3,4,5, even 6 satalites. I've used google maps, holux gps viewer and igo myway navigation. It works no problem. FYI - GPS is on COM4 with boud of 4800

Cheers!

Re: Any luck for Bell Mobility user with the new Alltell rom

couldnt get it to work with the alltel rom.. tried JD's rom. seemed to be trying, said "GPS active" in google maps but wouldnt lock on a satellite. tried the regedit (changing GPS mode from 2 to 4) and it locks on within a minute. is accurate to within a few feet, and im getting 2-3 satellites in my bottom floor apartment.. and 6-7 outside.

Re: Any luck for Bell Mobility user with the new Alltell rom

I installed the mustan rom (yes I installed alltel radio prior) I then proceeded to install the google maps application, did a reg edit to edit gpsmode to 4, restarted phone and all I get in google maps is seeking gps satellites (0).

Anyone have similar problem?

Re: Any luck for Bell Mobility user with the new Alltell rom

yah same thing for me ludester. Although I can get a lock sometimes when outside, most of the time it just uses the nearest cell tower as my position. I have done the regedit (GPSmode 2-->4) and also have been using gpsviewer first to try to lock. GPSviewer seems a little better in getting a lock but its still really erratic. It will lock for a few minutes indicated by the blue (most I have seen are 4 sats) but mostly it just "sees" the sats and then drops them. I tested this while in my car (moving and stationary) and also outside just walking around. I got googlemaps to follow me for a little bit (still erratic tho) but it stops working after a bit. When it stops working I reset my phone and it will work again for a little while.

I am in Halifax on aliant (pretty much bell) so maybe it has something to do with this region? I know that Mixxy who posted above said he was in TO and it worked pretty well...

A few things I am wondering about--
Has anybody tried changing other registry settings in SUPL AGPS? Like changing EnableAGPS, EnableGPSSmartMode, and even changing GPSmode to something like 1 or 3 (opposed to 2 or 4 which have been tried before). There are also some other settings in there that I have no idea what they do, including an entry for serverIP as 195.207.101.126. What is that IP and would it have any effect on the accuracy of the gps. I am using JD's first gps rom and I think its for an american carrier so maybe this should be changed?

Any ideas?
sorry I just had a large Tim's and am rambling

Re: Any luck for Bell Mobility user with the new Alltell rom

(Using JD's ROM)
I am also getting mixed results for GPS... When I flashed this weekend, I was able to get sats within few minuts... But yesterday, I was having problem getting them... So I done the registry thing and downloaded a GPS kickstart CAB from this forum (can't find the post now..) and after, I was getting stas within about 1 minut...

This morning, both outside and inside at work, GoogleMaps and Holux wont find stas but it seems Live Search can do it ...

Anyone has ideas ? I am thinking of getting the Mustang ROM ... I just dont know...
