What is the Best video format for HTC Touch using TCPMP

I looked everywhere in the forums for an answer to this one but what I am trying to find out is. What is the best Video format (i.e. .avi, .mp4, .3gp, etc.) to use with TCPMP using my Touch? I put an episode of Smallville and Lost on my Touch in various formats but no matter what format I use the picture quality looks great, but in some the sound is off or the playback is choppy. So far it seems MP4 may be the best but sound is always off. Any help on this one would be great.

Have you adjusted the video settings in TCPMP? Because of the video driver issue with HTC, you have to change the way TCPMP handles the video. Go to Options/Video and choose Raw FrameBuffer. If you have already done that, I don't know what to tell you. AVI has always worked the best for me.

I would have to agree that mp4's have the best video & audio. Just make sure you have the aac plugin so the sound is up to par with the video.

Did you set the audio offset to "-300", and enable GDI?

So far i would have to agree that mp4 is the best playback method depending on what you used to encode the original video. I have noticed something odd though some of the videos that i can play on my Touch and ipod are not able to play on my Com... Why is that?

Thats weird....Try narrowing down the source in which you get the movies from & the format. Then look for the specific codec.

Re: What is the Best video format for HTC Touch using TCPMP

Try Mp4 with following properties:

Encoder = h.264
Frame rate = 23.976(NTSC) or 29.97(PAL)?
Resolution = 480 x 320
Video bitrate = 500-1000 kbps
Audio encoder = AAC
Audio bitrate = 320 kbps
Aspect ratio = 16:9

You can use this Aimersoft Media Converter to approach it.

Hope it helps!

Thanks for the info. I'd prefer to using this video converter to convert video for my HTC. It works pretty well.

Re: What is the Best video format for HTC Touch using TCPMP

Keep in mind that video and audio are two different things (I know sounds dumply obvious but is important).

It is not a rule that every mp4 that you play will have no sound since mp4 refers only to the video codec. Audio codec could and will be a totally different one.

If you have any media experience then you know some other obvious things like that it is a total waste of time, space and performance to encode a video at "480x320" --for example-- since the Vogue just has a 320x240 screen. Same goes to the audio (if you are using headphones you can higher it a bit but don't exagerate, it will be pointless in terms of quality but you will anyway pay for it).

Regards.
