Setting up a Holux GPS Slim236

I have a holux blutooth GPS I used to use with my old Tmobile MDA. I cannot figure out how to propoerly set it up with my HTC Touch. It recognize it as bluetooth when I go into setup, but thats all. Can someone tell me the steps to set it up and get GPS working with Telnav?

You can find instructions here:
http://www.buygpsnow.com/support/issue_view.asp?ID=3038

I used com 4 and then let telenav set the gps auto. Works great! Live search was a manual setup. If you still can't get it pm me and I'll pdf the instructions I got with the receiver.

Re: Setting up a Holux GPS Slim236

I have gone through the enttire setup, but still not sure if its correct because the blue on bluetooth receiver is blinking, I thought it was supposed to stay solid. I also cannot test it because Telnav does not allow me access.

Is anyone able to use Telnav with the touch? I heard we could use it for free, but it is asking for a proper login from me. Is there another way for me to know if the bluetooth receiver is working properly?

Re: Setting up a Holux GPS Slim236

I tried to use the GPS with Google maps and it is clear that my bluetooth is still not set up properly. I seem to be missing a step to make the two devices pair? I set up a keyboard and it worked with no problem.

Re: Setting up a Holux GPS Slim236

sorry i'm so brief here, about to run into a meeting here at work:

1 - pair gps with touch using code '0000'
2 - create new outgoing com port (i use com port 8 ) with gps, baud rate 57600
3 - select com port 8 in gps program

bluetooth light should blink on touch, not stay on solid. i use a holux 236 gps with my touch, and have used tom tom 6, iguidance 4, live search, google maps, etc. with no issues.

Re: Setting up a Holux GPS Slim236

Sorry, but I have done all this and still apear to be missing something. IS the blue light onb the Holux supossed to be solid? How do I know if they are connected? Did you install software on the Touch? I feel as though I am missing the simplest part. It is clear to me that the Touch sees the device because it sees it and allows me to set up, but that is all. I would contact Holux but that is impossible. Thanks again.

Re: Setting up a Holux GPS Slim236

ITS WORKING, thanks. All I needed was a soft reset to get it going. Only question now is can I use Telnav withour subscribing since it should be included from Sprint?? If not, is there any other Free turn by turn software I can use for free or do i need to buy TomTom or Iguidance?
