Re: XV6900 discussion thread. It's been released. Now what?
Goodluck getting them to send you just a shell, I'd guess they OEM the whole unit when they break. As far as tools, there's a thread on here about a guy cramming the CDMA Touch into a GSM housing, his post should tell you what tools you'll need (you might event be able to get his old housing off him)

looks like its just a standard torques head. cnn.cn is usually the place id go for oem housings, but they dont have any cdma ones yet.
edit: i lied, looks like they have sprint housings now. it comes with the digitizer though, so its expensive. http://cnn.cn/shop/p3450-touch-c-277_391.html |

Re: XV6900 discussion thread. It's been released. Now what?
I don't see why people are surprised... this is Verizon and they normally don't give their customers anything for free. If they give US a discount it's because the device is already so overpriced that it's a win/win for them. They will never offer a $99 plan like Sprint because they don't have issues with customer retention like "you know who".

Wait, so its white? That sucks for people planning on using this in a corporate setting. The touch already looks like a toy, making it white is going to turn off a lot of business people. I for one would not get it if it were any color but black or gray.

Re: XV6900 discussion thread. It's been released. Now what?
As for the Touch being white, thats been in the works and well stated for a long time. It is as white as the Bell Telus Model Released a month ago in Canada. If you dont like the color it is very straightforward and cheap to skin it (ultimate skins $6 per etc...). So if you want it pink its not that big a deal.
GPS - It is indeed linked to VZNav currently. It does work, only its conifigured to work with VZNav so VZW can get your extra $ monthly. - Hardly a surprise. If you are a current VZW customer, call *611, select option 4, then option 0. Tell the Customer Rep it will not appear as though they are available HOWEVER tell them to attempt to process the order anyway. The order will process. THERE IS NO REASON you can not proccess an order for your Vogue at this moment if you follow this process. I can't report much different then Nem so far. Mine has been very fast out of the box, is indeed a bit slick and "plasticky" feeling VS the Sprint Vogue. My versions are all as reported by him. I've only had mine for the afternoon and have not been able to do much with it yet, but will try to report more after tommorow. Also, The $30 reduced unlimited data rate WILL BE AVAILABLE on the XV6900 immediately. Do not take "no" from your rep. I know it is not in the press release, but it will go through. Just insist they try it. |

Re: XV6900 discussion thread. It's been released. Now what?
Another reason why i left VZ. They nickel and dime you to death. I hope Sprint is smart and releases the rom with stand alone gps like the mogul. that puts vz to shame. FOR SHAME!
