how can i force EVDO and not 1x

my service switch all the time from EVDO to 1X (back and forth) i really don't most of the time, but is annoying when i'm tethering and it switch to 1x, the data connection becomes very slow.

is there's any negative thing by doing this other than the battery life. and how can i force EVDO. thanx in advance

Not really sure how to force EVDO but the reason your device is switching to 1X when receiving a call or SMS is because it is incapable of receiving the SMS or calls on the EVDO.

To the best of my knowledge anyway...

Yes, if you force EVDO (which you can do), you'll be unable to make/receive calls and use SMS, because they both use 1xRTT only.

Re: how can i force EVDO and not 1x

When I forced evdo on my touch it caused my sms to only send and receive whenever I placed a phone call, which I was still capable of doing. I didnt receive any phone calls though; it is possible that nobody called me that day.
