Direct Sunlight Colors

Has anyone played around with different color layouts for themes in direct or just bright sunlight? The biggest problem I've had with my WM phones (and PDAs in general before that) has been trying to read the buggers outside, and I was wondering if anyone has found any particular color combinations that work very well in this situation. I'm guessing white on black or black on white is the way to go, but I'd love to hear what people may have learned before I go mucking about on my own.
