I Am About To Throw This Active Sync Through The Window!!

I had XP on phone 1, I would connect then sometimes out of no where it would disconnect!
I was so sick of it I installed Vista because my friends phone hooked up to Vista works awesome!

Finally I was able to stay connected to the computer!

My phone died so I had to get phone #2,

After a couple days I would start to disconnect AGAIN!
Phone #2 died so I finally got #3

I am having the same issue's I am constantly unplugging and plugging back in!!

I AM SO DAMN SICK OF IT!!

Whats going on!?!?

Try to uncheck "enable advanced network connection" at Start>settings>connections>usb to pc, see if that helps.

Mine did the same thing. I could never figure it out until I upgraded from my McAfee virus software to another brand of software. Now it works great. Try and look through your firewall and virus software settings.

I also had the very same problem when I had my apache. I figured out that since I had bought it off of ebay, the data cable that was included was for Motorola and not htc devices and it would connect but keep disconnecting. I bought a regular cable and it worked perfectly so just a thought.....

Re: I Am About To Throw This Active Sync Through The Window!!

It could be that your phone it going to sleep... mine will sometimes do that, but then active sync will force it back on and i'll hear the annoying connect sound. After about a week I just disabled the sound. Works great now, or at least I can't hear it mess up

Re: I Am About To Throw This Active Sync Through The Window!!

Go to Start/Settings/System/Power/Advanced and uncheck(disable) "On external power" to keep the device's screen on 100% of the time when connected to the PC or plugged into the charger. You can still turn off the screen if you want but it will no longer do it itself if plugged into some kind of power supply.

I will second the vote for a different cable. I have a bunch of usb/mini-usb cables and a few of them drop the connection on a whim, as if the connectors are flaky (and they probably are). I have a couple of high-quality cables that do not do this. I don't know which one came with the phone, so I can't comment on that one.

Zonealarm was my culprit... check your antivirus/firewall suite... just a thought.

Re: I Am About To Throw This Active Sync Through The Window!!

I really haven't seen any problems with ActiveSync over a USB cable on my XP's machines. However, I have seen some random issues using Bluetooth. On my desktop, using the a IOGEAR BT dongle and WIDCOMM, I can connect almost all the the time with my MOGUL (I really wish ActiveSync still supported the Wifi connection).

On my wife's Dell notebook, with an internal BT chip, and Toshiba stack, it will only connect once and fails on subsequent tries. Disabling and renabling the BT Radio seems to allow me to reconnect again.
