Auto Time Synchronization

I just got my HTC Touch a month ago an and can't get it to auto Sync the time to the network. I have gone to phone, options, services, time synchronization, get settings, and checked the box "Time Synchonize with mobile network automatically".
I travel for a living and not having my phone auto update to the local time is driving me NUTS!!!
Thanks for any help.

Re: Auto Time Synchronization

That is a feature not a bug...Part of the screwy way MS choose to deal with time. It is auto-updating, but you have to tell it what time zone you are in. So if you travel to a different time zone, you have to manually tell it that. But it is updating the time to make sure the time is right, it just may not be the right time zone. Just as a warning, if you change your time zone it will change your appointment times. So I never change the time zone, but I have a clock program that I change to show multiple time zones to help me figure out what time it is where I am.

Re: Auto Time Synchronization

What is the Time program that you use? So I am guessing that Sprint just goes off the Cell phone tower time to figure out if you are in your free calling time when you make calls in different timezones.

I also think this is BS I'm a pilot myself and all my previous phones including palm and smart phones always had this simple capability. I rely heavily on this feature since it can sometimes be rather embarrassing to show up for a flight late. Is there no thrid party way around this ?

You never have the problem after a few legs what timezone your in? I mean I'm forced to pay attention to it now and ask people around me, but it was so handy

I too am a pilot and find this a real pain
I use my phone for my alarm and I'm not looking forward to the day my FO calls from the front desk of the hotel asking if I am coming to work today.
Does anyone have a third party app that can tell what the local time is?

But this still does not autosync with the celltowers so you get the correct timezone automatically when you turn on your phone after landing. Thanks for the link though.

Re: Auto Time Synchronization

It updates the GMT. You have to tell it your timezone to get local time. I think it is a pain also.
