Turning off symbols

When I write an "a" or an "s" I get an accent on the a and a weird symbol resembling a B respectively. I have "allow accented characters" turned off, but they still appear. Can someone give me some insight as to how to stop this from happening? I have SPB Full Screen Keyboard, and VITO Zoomboard also installed but dutch is turned off, if that makes a difference.
