PC Acquiring Network Address then disconnects Touch when plugged in USB

I am having an issue when connecting my phone to my computer via USB cord. The network adapter icon appears in the task bar of my pc and the status shows "Acquiring Network Address" but it never establishes that connection properly and my connection will drop or my computer will stall till I disconnect the USB cable physically.

I can achieve a proper Sync session with my computer as long as it doesn't take more than 2-3 minutes because that about as long as it takes to finally lose the connection between my phone and computer.

I have done the troubleshooting for ActiveSync and I have gone to Microsoft website to try and find a solution to no avail.

I am using ActiveSync 4.5 and I have installed and uninstalled a couple of times to make sure it wasn't that.

I have disabled my Firewall and that wasn't the problem.

I have tried while ActiveSync was uninstalled but I still get that issue even without Active Sync.

I have used ActiveSync Toggle to disable it and see if it was that but nothing.

I have tried while I had a proper association between my PC and PPC through ActiveSync and still have this issue.

I have looked up Google to find answers but everyone's problems were solved by Firewall or Connection Manager programs, which I have disabled to see if that was it and even Antivirus program but that doesn't seem to solve it either.

My biggest issue is that if I try to tether my phone to my PC I can only maintain a connection to the internet for about 2-3 minutes before it disconnects and I have to reconnect Internet Sharing or replug my USB cable. Not only that but when I lose connection my phone will freeze sometimes and I have to Soft Reset.

Any suggestions?

Maybe specifying a Network Address to the device's Network Adapter under:

Properties>General>Configure>Advanced>Property: Network Address>Value ?

But I dont know exactly what value to specify or what to do. The defaul setting for the Network Address where you can change the value is set at "Not Present"

By the way I am using OMJ's ROM previous to his new one that includes UC.

Thanks.

So are you trying to sync, or share internet?

Make sure that you have excluded ActiveSync from your anti-virus software's firewall (not just Windows firewall).

I know that when I Sync, my computer does the network searching thing for a lfew seconds and then closes, and then ActiveSync starts up. Maybe you need to wait longer on ActiveSync?

Re: PC Acquiring Network Address then disconnects Touch when plugged in USB

Well actually I wait and it never actually acquired that Network Address and it would disconnect on its own, and thats when I had to physically disconnect the USB cable because the PC and Phone would lock up untill I disconnected.

But I think I got it working now, by the way I disabled my Antivirus too but it didnt do anything.

I think its working now though. I read somewhere the if you went to the Setting for USB to PC and unchecked the Advanced Network Functionality that it would work.

My problem was that I would look under the Connections Settings like every post directed people to. Well, everyone had theirs there, but I guess on my Custom OMJ ROM that setting is under System Settings which I never looked into since it didnt dawn on me.

I decided to take a look after I posted and VOILA, there it was. I unchecked it and it seems like its working now.

Most ppl have the same probem. and most are resolved when they uncheck the "ENABLE ADVANCED NETWORK FUNCTIONALITY" box.

Also make sure you don't have two device profiles already stored on activesync. This was my problem when my touch wouldn't connect
