Re: looking for a sprint compatable touch housing
There are replacement housings for the various different carriers. Bell, Alltel and soon Verizon.
I contacted UTStarCom directly for the battery door. They said they will have some available in 2-3 weeks. To call back.. Part numbers are; BTR6900ALC grey/silver BTR6900BMC teal/blue BTR6900SPC black She didn't have a part number for the white one.. Also they are all rubbery in feel except the white one which is glossy plastic.. I also contacted china_store an ebay vendor of the GSM housings, they linked me a green CDMA HTC Touch. I mentioned to them that there are differences on the P3450 and P3050 that would not allow the interchange of housings. And that even though the link they provided me of a CDMA phone and it's full specs, the picture was indeed a GSM Green Touch. This vendor says that he will keep looking into getting colored housings and will keep me up to date. They seem to be an aftermarket manufacturer, so maybe if there is enough interest... I also got two BELL Mobility dummies, white and teal to test and see if they could be taken apart and used as housing.. Answer on that is, no they are plastic molded halves snapped/screwed together to look like the real phone and can not be used. I got the clear/white silicone cover from daydeals, it's great, fits great, but adds a tiny bit to the bulk of the phone and hides all of the touch's details. As well as adds height to the area around the touch screen, making it no longer flush. I took mine off.. still looking, -CC P.S. I too want that green. A nice "dung beetle black oil sheen" one would be nice.. You know those that look metallic, and black-ish, but shine different shades of color depending how the light hits it.. P.S.S. The though of working on removing the digitizer etc has me think twice about changing out the top half of the housing.. Last edited by clockcycle; 03-24-2008 at 07:25 PM. |
