How do i free up RAM?

Hi there guys.

I have an HTC Touch. I has what seems to be 48MBs of RAM. But i never have anything less than 40MB used.

I'm using the standard ROM (any tips on a good ROM to change to?).

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Is 40 Used causing you a performance issue? Other than running a MemMaid clean as was previously suggested I don't really see 40 MB used as a problem. I have 44 in use myself as I write this.

Just because you may have closed certain apps, the more stuff you have on your today screen (plugins and such), the more memory will be used.

Re: How do i free up RAM?

tlpalmer01, when you install yes.

I don't see what the real problem is. If you have 48mb free (40mb used) then you still have a lot of space free, and nothing to worry about. Now if it's affecting programs that you want to run (that use 48mb or more) then I can see it as being a problem. Do remember that WM6 does not free up all of a programs memory after use, so that if you re-open the program then it will run faster.

Be thankful you don't have a Mogul, or you would be going crazy only having 10mb free!

Re: How do i free up RAM?

If you disable touchflo, you can gain 4.5 megs. As everyone else has said, why worry.

Re: How do i free up RAM?

I kept running out of memory on my 6700. It took me weeks to figure it out. I was moving notes, ringtones, and any other files I could move over to the storage card, just trying to free up memory. I finally figured out that I hadn't ever cleared my IE cache. I went into IE, Options>Memory, and cleared the cache & history. I went from 0.12 mb free to 20 mb free.

Amazing what I could forget to do on a phone that I regularly do on my PC.

Re: How do i free up RAM?

Memmaid is okay but it is not the best ram cleaner. I have found that SKTools FreeUP RAM as Oxios are both much much better.

As you have 2x more ram than I have ever seen available on my phone I am inclined to tell you to take a hike! Just kidding.
