8 gig micro sd wont work on my htc touch HELP!!!!
 

I got a 8 gig micro sd on ebay and when I put it in my phone I get an error mssg saying errorm505;unable to read memory card.please make sure your memory card is properly inserted into your phone .?????????????? can anyone help me please ](*,)

I think the biggest you can go in the touch is 4 gig. I dont think 8 gig will be able to work.... Just looked it up and it says 4 is the biggest it can go. :angry7:

it reads it and if I download something from my phone off the web it lets me save it in sd hc card I just can't get music on it and when I open my mp3 player it gives me the error plus I took it to sprint and the tech said the touch would support it but mogul would not don't know how true this is cuz when I got on ebay the htc touch was on the supported phone list ?????? hhhmmmmmmmmmm......weird

did a compatability check on sandisk.com it says the touch supports up to 8 gig check it out I would post a link but this pc I got@ work has filters wont let me f%&*ing managment lol!!!

I dont have the special micro sd hc usb card reader maybe if I get one and put music on it the touch will read it but I'm scared the player will give me the error and I will have got it for nothing .......:(

Well i have put music on by sync on the pc and with my card reader. the readers are real cheap. So it would be worth it to try. Let me know.

I have a 6 gig working fine in my touch. I just ordered an 8 gig from newegg. The tracker said it should be here tomorrow. I will check it out and let you know how it works for me.

i have a 8 gig i bought from DZ-tech on ebay and it works just fine. I paid $84 and i been usuing it for over a month. I also loaded almost 8g worth of music on it and dragged it back to my pc to make sure it was a true 8gig.

I just installed a sandisk 8gb micro sdhc and it worked fine.

It came formatted fat32 and I just stuck it in my computer via usb thumb reader and copied the files from my old storage card to the new card and then swapped them. Everything recognizes the 7782.5 mb (settings>memory app, windows media player and the vista file system).

I am running a customized version of No2Chem's NueRom-V 107 ROM but I doubt that has anything to do with it as many others have reported being able to use 8 gig cards as well.

Joe - Are you referring mainly to the music from the Sprint Music Store? Because the 8 gig card works on the Touch itself, just not with the Sprint Muisc Store. I don't know why and it took me 3 calls and 3 hours to come to that conclusion. I was able to find someone to reimburse my account for all the songs I purchased and am now unable to listen to because Sprint's Music Store is a joke.

Your problem may be a fake MicroSD card. Ebay is known for selling fake and crappy flash memory. I have heard of countless people getting fake SD cards, Memory Sticks, etc from ebay. They look just like the real thing but is nothing more than crap. Just something to consider.

Yeah I have to agree with algtz1. I have been using my 8 gig card all day with no problems. I only have about 6 gigs on so far but my touch reads the card as having the full 7780 something MBs. I have been burned by Ebay myself and have subsequently stopped buying cards from there.

I installed WM5torage_1.8_Touch.cab, and I connected the phone to the pc. Then I just had the pc format it for me. I couldn't get the regular WM5torage to work, so I used this tweaked version.

thanks yeah it was on sprint music store won't work !!!!!but wanna format it fat 32 but can't sync my pc is a mac so I'll have to get my friend to do it for me does anyone have a mp3 player so I don't have to go into Java to play my stuff thanks for the links everybody :)

I didn't format my 8 gig card from the ebay seller referenced earlier in this thread, as everything else works fine. It's just the Sprint Music Store that is out. The Sprint Music Store downloads the music as .koz files, which can only be played with the Sprint Music Store Player (as far as I know).

So, I downloaded all of my purchased music to my PC as .wma files, which play fine on my PC after I download the license, but won't play on my phone because they are protected files! I tried Freeme4WM and other programs that are suppossed to assist me in playing these files on my phone, but alas, I was unsuccessful. Something about WM being version 11.0.6000.700. I guess I have to wait until someone resolves that issue, as well.

Regardless, Sprint reimbursed my account for the songs, so I'll just purchase them again elsewhere. Speaking of which, does anyone recommend a good website to purchase music that I can actually play on my phone? Napster 2 Go any good? Finally, any easy way to play itunes music on the phone? Although not the subject of this thread, if Joe encounters the same issues I did, then this is where he'll end up as well.

Players are a dime a dozen. Since you're asking for help, my personal favorite (because of the alarm feature) is MortPlayer, and it's free.

Or you can try getting the latest HTC Home and using HTC Audio Manager which looks a lot like the iPod menus.

Do what I do. Sign up for a subscription service of your choice, and then purchase MuvAudio (http://www.muvaudio.com) . It will re-record protected WMA-DRM file as a unprotected MP3 file.
Best thing I ever did was sign up for Yahoo Unlimited at $60/year and buy MuvAudio for $18.
Total of $78 and I've downloaded over 8000 songs.
Yahoo Unlimited is going away and will be taken over by Rhapsody. New price will be $13/month. I'm splitting the cost with a friend, and we'll be taking advantage of my fiber optics 15mb download speeds. :)

What has your experience been like with the quality of the MP3s produced by MuvAudio? Any noticeable quality loss? I'm not a huge audiophile, but also don't want to listen to crap. I've avoided subsciption services in the past mainly because my wife is a Mac/iPod girl and I'm a Windows/PPC guy, and I've never seen a service that will work with both copy protection systems. In theory I like the subscription service idea. Fast downloads, accurate song info, album art, etc. This could be the perfect solution.

Far as I know, 8 gigs is currently the max available for microSDHC cards on the market. SanDisk has announced they'll release a 12 gigger sometime like mid 2008. The only 16 gig and 32 gig cards available at this time are not microSD, but regular full size SDHC, compact flash, etc. Since our Touch phones have the "SD 2.0 compatible" specification, this means they can support microSD (non HC) up to 2GB as well as microSDHC from 4GB through 32GB.

:violent2:I'm using a 6GB on my touch and it works great! My card reader in my HP desktop will not read it, but if I use the reader that came from SanDisk it reads and loads great.

I'm using an 8gb Sandisk no problem on the phone.....I installed all of my music onto the card into the appropriate folder, and now Sprint Music reads all of my playlists as well.

Stick the card into the reader, stick it into a USB slot, click "my computer", the reader should have a drive letter - right click it, from the drop down- click on format, under file system - click on fat 32, and click start

Actually, with the Sandisk you shouldn't even have to format it, as they come preformatted as FAT32.

I have the mogul, which isn't the same but I had an issue reading an 8 gig sandisk as well. My mogul would read the card but would only read about 4 of the total 8 gigs. I found a program at sprintmogul.net that allowed me to use the entire 8 gigs

Did you get the card off of ebay? Most of the time when a card is purchased from an "off vendor", or a site like ebay, the card is formatted to LOOK like 8gb, but can be as small as 512mb. I have used 2 different cards directly from Sandisk (8gb), in both the mogul and the touch. I also owned the 6700 but only was able to test a 6gb (via MicroSD convertor) on that phone. What the scammers on ebay do is this: They use a program that rewrites the partition table on the card. This allows you to see 8gb when you pull up the card on your computer. However, once you get past the actual physical space, the card gives you an error. To test this, take 8gb of music, and try to copy the entire thing to the card. If it works, you're good. If not, unfortunately, you have been ripped off. This has become a common problem. There are many articles on the web about this type of scam. As for the phones, a very good friend of mine is a Sprint Tier 2 tech. He told me that both the Mogul and the Touch support the 8gb cards. I have tested this on both phones, and have had no problem. If your card is not working on your phone, then it is most likely the card, and not the phone itself.

if you are running XP, have you tried installing the hotifix for sdhc cards over 4gigs?
