I'm guessing that those extra cabs are supposed to be installed on the actual device since I didn't with mine and I'm getting errors for the shortcuts in the cube.

Which shortcuts? The Cabs are for TCPMP, Opera Mobile, PaintCE, and GoogleMaps. Everything else should be on a stock Touch, or can be found for download.
