Only getting 28kbit/sec with Touch on Sprint?

Is this normal? I switched from the Mogul to the Touch and I constantly get streaming media buffering, etc. I never had streaming issues with my Mogul..

Is this maybe a coincidence, and just sprints data connection is going slow? (Last night in the same location it worked fine, during the day it goes slow).

Or is it maybe settings based on the Touch? Or hardware? Maybe weaker antenna?

Anyone?

I noticed when I was downloading a file on it through IE.. If I did a speed test, it would show the connection going up to 191kbits/sec... odd?

I'm wondering if maybe the connection while streaming, or such is going inactive causing this to happen? Is there a program that keeps the connection alive longer? Or maybe a reg edit, that will keep an active connection alive for longer?

Check your signal maps on sprint.com. It could be automatically switching back and forth to 1x, which could cause the sluggish performance.

Dunno if it depends on the tower or traffic but even with my WWAN card in my laptop I can get varying data speeds. Its either traffic on the tower or the tower itself.

Its not signal as in one place I only get 2 bars but get 2Mbit down but at my house I get full bars but only about 600Kbit down.

Cool

Sprint's Wireless Data Coverage can be compared to Cable Internet. You're sharing it with everyone on your block, except the cell towers cover a helluva lot more turf then one cable junction. Its shared. During off times is when you'll get the most speed most likely, but during peak hours, when EVERYONE feels they need to show off there speedy EV-DO internet to their buddies and show them how fast they can download porn, that's when you're gonna get slower speeds.

Yeah. My coverage area is good according to sprint. I get the concept that maybe more people are just using it.. That would explain why it tends to function better later into the night when most people are sleeping..

I just don't get why I had no issues with it, when I used my mogul. I think maybe I had one or two bad days out of 30 with streaming where as Ive had every day bad streaming since I got the touch.

I'm deciding which phone to keep, but it's hard to look past the Touches sexy size and ram. But I stream a hell of a lot... So I'm not certain whats worth keeping. I must have tried a million things this week to improve it's quality.. But even with 2-3 bars constantly, I get poor streaming of basic resco radio streams.
