how the h*** do you delete an existing Imap email account?

so i have an old Imap email that i no longer use anymore on my touch.. and i decided to go delete it.. but i then realized that everytime i try to delete it from the menu, it does nothing.. then when i go into options to try and go about it another way.. the email doesnt even pop up in the lists.. is just shows text messages, yahoo, and outlook. does anyone else have this problem or am i doing something wrong?
