Slow dialing, sluggish

Hey all,

I'm not sure if this is unique to my Touch, or if it's widespread. While punching in numbers into the dialing pad, it's taking about .25 seconds before the device shows the number on the display. Playing with an iPhone, its instant and smooth. Any steps I can take to make this dialing as sooth as the iPhone?

in the options turn off the tones.
