DNS/Alt DNS

I remember on my mogul, there was a file i could delete so that my DNS/Alt DNS settings stayed after a soft reset, is there any way to get em to stick on the touch?

The file was probably the shortcut for HTC_Guardian in the Windows\Startup folder.

I've read a few posts that in order to stop HTC_Guardian on the touch you need to find or make a dummy .exe that just exits, rename that .exe to HTC_Guardian.exe and copy it on top of the existing HTC_Guardian.exe. You can't rename or delete the one that's there because it's in ROM. But you can put something in place of it that does nothing.

Note: I may have the name slightly wrong.

Be sure to check "show" all files. Click on menu and that option will pop up. The file is there.

You didn't read closely. I said the file WAS in startup folder.
They no longer do it that way. They bury it as part of one of the services.

The new way to do it is to over write \Windows\HTC_CM_Guardian.exe

I have not done this myself, I'm just relaying what I read elsewhere.

And the file is there, I can see it now using Total Commander.

bad, I was not replying to you but to the OP. He's looking in the wrong folder. There is nothing related to HTC_CM_Guardian in that startup folder any more.

But you are correct the file he is interested in, is hidden (in /Windows directory).
