Ringtone quality

Hey guys...I'm trying to make a ringtone with Audacity but whenever I port it to my phone it's always alot quieter than it is on my computer. I usually save it as either mp3 or wav.I use all the default settings on Audacity, I'm not very tech savvy right now; I searched the forum but couldn't find a sufficient answer. Any ideas?

edit: I can play the ringtones with PocketPlayer and they sound loud and fine...its just when its a ringtone it wont work!

So with Audacity once you put your music in to find the section of the mp3 you want, all you have to do is on the right side you'll see a small box. It says things like stereo and the hz your mp3 is and has mute and solo see it? Well if you move the top slider to + it will increase the DB's and make you ringer louder.Move it to - and obliviously it would make it softer.
*Edit* You dont have to ad much to make it loud. Maybe ad +3 I would say at the most + 6. This could blow your speaker.
