Have you installed Activesync or Windows Mobile Device Center on your PC? If not install it. If you already have it uninstall it and reinstall it and re-setup the partnership. It has drivers that you may need.

Thanks - it is part of Win 7. I've done 3 fresh installs of Windows 7 - different versions - same issue. It doesn't seem to be a driver issue as it uses the same drivers as my working version on other computers. It seems to be something specific to this particular revision of the sony laptop. The USB work fine for any other function.
I am able to use BT tethering on that laptop, just not usb for some odd reason. I tried the USB chipset drivers direct from Sony - no luck and also tried them direct from Intel - no luck. |

has USB tethering ever worked for you on this SOny MAchine??
try installing one of the Tethering Hacks first.. soft reset.. then try again.. cab attached
