well i actually called sprint about that problem and they said its becuase windows operates jus as a computer would when it comes to playin music files...when a text comes in it triggers themusic file to play and it wont stop until that entire music file is played...

That is correct. It will play the entire music file. And if you get another text while the music is playing from the first one it will start playing the file again simotaniously with other one. It get's pretty annoying.
I would reccomend 1 of 2 things for this. 1. You can get dbPowerAmp (Music Convertor) - Convert your files to wav. Then use the windows sound recorder to cut out the segment you want. or 2. You can just download Audacity and pretty much do the same thing but with just 1 program. It is a lot more difficult to operate this though. AND if anyone wants just reply to this but I have some great ways to compress the files and still make them sound amazing. Almost all of my ringers for people on my phone are around 30-35 seconds and the files are only 105kb to 130kb.
