strange problem with Touch

sometimes, when I close an app, I do not return to "Today" theme, instead, the phone dial pad shows up.

I have to close the dial pad to return to "Today".

I just got the Touch a few days ago. I wonder if I need to contact the sprint store or sprint customer services.
