Tethering Touch with Toshiba Laptop with PAM

I have a homebuilt desktop and a new Toshiba Satellite laptop, both running Windows Vista Home Premium. I have a pam plan on my account and I have been using my Touch as a modem via usb successfully on my desktop for two weeks now with no issue. I tried to tether to my laptop and will get booted off after a page or two (timeout) or will be unable to pull up a page at all. I spoke with advanced tech support for Sprint. They had me do a hard reset on the handset and we did some ping tests as well as searched device manager to see if there were any conflicts. One thing of note is that it showed up as dns device on mine but on the techs laptop it showed up as a microsoft wireless device. We couldn't figure it out. He suggested I contact Toshiba, which I did. Their tech guy had me wipe the hard drive and reinstall windows clean which didn't help either. He said it had something to do with the latency of the signal and it was a Sprint issue but his inflection implied that he really had no clue. I have the pam plan and was using my Q successfully on both computers before switching to the touch. Any help from anyone at all would be a great help.
