Backlight Question: will leaving it on cause any damage

I use My Mobiler so that I can view my phones desktop on my PC.

To do this I leave the phone connected to Active Sync.

If I hit the power button on the top of the phone I lose my Active Sync connection.

Leaving it connected to AS the backlight stays on.

Will this damage the screen in any way?
(I have the backlight set to cut off after 1 min but it never does, it just dims)

I remember with my Treo it would stop charging because the unit got to hot from the backlight being on.
