so I cant have the best of both worlds ... as in 4 sided cube with that being the 4th side (sling, google etc....)

No. Not as is. the cab I pointed to just now will change the Stock App Launcher into the 8 button launcher with Google Maps, etc. Give me acouple minutes, though and I'll see if I can whip up a version of the 4th side with the previous icons.

Unfortunately I don't have all the files needed to create a full CAB on this computer, but here is the D0.brn to have the original icons as the background for the 4th side. Just put this in your \Windows\ folder.

You'll have to do the registry edits yourself for now. If you need help, let me know.

Questions before I try:
If i screwup can I uninstall your cab to get back to normal.

Will a hard reset get me back to normal?

Can the 4 sided version be combined with a different 3 sided version say the vista cube or does it only work with stock cube ... (InquireNmindsWant2Know)

Great questions!

You should be able to uninstall the CAB and get it back to normal. Haven't had any problems yet.

A hard reset will definitely get you back to "stock".

Yes, this should (and I emphasize should, since I have not tested this) be compatible with all other cube modifications except the animations. Since I added a side to the cube, it changes the animation for the "stock" App Launcher. Normally the App Launcher goes to the Quick Dial screen, so the animation looks like it's turning to the quick dial screen. But with this modification the animation will look like it is going to the App Launcher screen.

If you install the Vista Cube and then the 4 sided Cube then all the animations will be blank and look correct (you will only see the Vista icons when the cube stops on a side). If you install this and then the Vista cube your animation from the 3rd side to the 4th side will look wrong.

This Cab does only two things:
1) creates a new side for the Cube
2) changes all the animations to work correctly (and be blank, as shown in the gif in post #1)

I know that was kind of long, but I wanted to make sure I was saying everything to the best of my ability.

Short answers:
Yes.
Yes.
Yes (except for animations).

Alignment Grid BMP for new D0 files

1 Attachment(s)
This is a clean BMP with a black background and alignment gridlines to help people build their new D0 screens. The green horizontal lines bracket the text labels that will appear (one above and one below), the green vertical line is the center line and the white vertical lines are the center lines for the icon areas.

I paste my icons on top of the white lines spaced evenly above the top green horizontal lines for each section and then erase all the guide lines. Works like a charm.

Hope this helps everyone create a nice look for their 4th cube face.

that's a great idea! should make it easier.

So...this is a shot in the dark here and I only did this under paint because I don't have Photoshop. But...a small attempt at making an iPod themed 4th side.
