<<<<<Please Help With Tethering>>>>>

I never really used the "tethering" feature because whenever I went I always I had a connection and what not; BUT my friend just recently moved out and has not internet connection (well being using his neighbor's) but I searched the forums and did not really see precise instructions on how to do so; just saying what you need....

I will be using PDANet v1.8 since I heard that is the easiest, but can someone PLEASE post step-by-step instructions on how to do it...I will not use the bluetooth feature I do not believe; just straight up USB cable from phone to PC;

I am also assuming, I will need to install activesync and PDANet and my friend's computer to acheive this???

Thanks for the time and help with this

I'm now sitting in an airport using my touch as my internet connection to type this. I used the internet sharing found in the Comm Manager. I have the Sero plan so I think I'm ok in terms of data usage cost. All I did was make sure my usb cable was not connected then connect to the internet with internet explorer on the phone. Then turn on internet sharing under Comm Manager and then connect the usb cable to my laptop. That's it. No add'l settings or anything. and the speed is fast.

So I get to surf the internet and charge my phone at the same time. Can't beat that.

Sorry, no 3rd party app needed. Just make sure you use the setting SprintPCS instead of the "Phone as Modem" option in Internet Sharing. I was told that the Phone as Modem might incure a charge unless you have that add'l Phone as Modem plan

I have been wondering this also... I have a Mogul and I have tethered my phone to my laptop maybe once and disconnected within like 5 minutes in fear I would be charged for my usage. So my general question is if I tether my phone to my laptop using Internet Sharing, connecting through "Sprint PCS" and NOT Phone as Modem I will not be charged anything additional, right?

Also I have Unlimited data plan...So I seriously need to know this

I have an unlimited data plan through Sprint and have successfully connected with the Internet Sharing through the Comm Manager using Sprint PCS, on several occasions. None of which have ever showed up on my bill as an extra charge. But I cannot tell you for certain wether you will get an additional charge for tethering, as I do not know how your billing is setup and do not work for Sprint.

I will tell you that it is a much simpler system than using PDANet. My Vogue is through my work and we have dozens of other employees using the older MOTO Q with PDANet on their laptops. While it does work and seems to be fairly stable, I like the process with the Internet Sharing through the Comm Manager much more. I can connect to the Internet quicker and also tend to get better speeds from it, using my Vogue.

Good luck!
