Changing Links on HTC Home Sprint

The HTC Home Sprint Today plugin doesn't use the registry like it did on the Mogul. You have to edit the two files in the Windows directory I metioned.

Use Total Commander to edit the files, it will get around the access denied and read only issue.

On the Live Search icon I read some where that there's a typo in the path to Live Search in the files I mentioned.

Now I am wondering how I can Change those links to something else. Like I want it to go to media player instead of music store....

Thanks to everyone who has posted on here. I was able to edit my files and I went the long way that was posted on PDAPhone.com but using Total Commander as mentioned by Polen above is much easier.

Just for a little clarification on how to edit files in Total Commander, you click on the icon with the piece of paper and pen and it's right next to "Show" on the bottom toolbar. Just highlight the ql_skin_p.xml file and click on that icon and make the changes and do the same for ql_skin_l.xml.

I went ahead and fixed my Live Search link and changed the Sprint TV link to SlingPlayer Mobile. Now I actually get some use out of this Today plugin. I'm thinking about switching the Phone link to something else. Why do you need a link to the phone when you can just push the green send button?

Ok so Polen. Now i am gettin the error message on another link.

this time though its in my cube. I changed the name and path of the top left cube to yahoo and the path to \storage card\program files\Yahoo! Go.

i did both these things with a registery editor. the name changed under the icon. but when i click the button i get the same error as when my windows live link was dead.....any ideas...

You mentioned Tabs. We are talking about the "HTC Home Sprint" not "HTC Home". The "HTC Home Sprint" is the Today plugin with the 5 icons.

When I mentioned tab, it's the 5 icons you referenced - HTC Sprint Home (phone, headset, pict, search and TV). I'll try it when I get the balls. I read somewhere that the icon are .brn and not bmps, is this false since you mentioned it bmp? Cause if I change it, I would like to use the right pic (icon). Also, will it brick my Touch if I screw up? Thanks for all the posting on how to change it.

The Cube interface uses brn. When you get a chance to look in these files you will see text strings with paths and file names pointing to bmp files.

You wont brick your phone modifying these files. If anything, you could just break the HTC Home Sprint Today plugin. Then just copy the original files back to your phone.

EVERYONE, Always make copies of any of the files you edit.

Change Music.exe to wmplayer.exe

I did the same thing.

no, you can always do a hard reset and get out of trouble
