Finger Scrolling

Just got my touch yesterday as a replacement ofr my mogul and gotta say its much faster and more responsive, but a dislike and a problem I have is the finger scrolling. I was wondering if there is a way to invert the scrolling with the finger. You have to go down to scroll up and up to scroll down. Wonder if there is a registry edit that can fix this. I'm too used to the traditional style where you scroll up the text will scroll up and vise versa

if you prefer regular scrolling just use your finger on the scroll bars.

While that would work, it would still require some small fingers or using the stylus. I understand what he is looking for but I dont know of a fix as of yet. Stylz, think of it this way, you are actually dragging the screen instead of scrolling. It may be an adjustment, but I think you might like it better once you get used to it. Especially when you have to deal with both up/donw and left/right. Just a preference thing I guess.

I guess it would take a lot of getting used to including using the HTC keyboard bet we'll see if a hack is eventually produced.

actually i've found just the opposite. compared to other htc devices, the touch seems to do a better job of figuring out what you're trying to do without you having to be as precise on where you touch the screen. when i'm scrolling i don't have any problems dragging my fat thumb down the side of the phone and the scrollbar working flawlessly. i've even narrowed my scrollbars to give back some of the screen space. compared to the mogul where i had to (like you said) use the stylus or carefully line up the tip of a finger nail, the touch is fantastic in being intuative about what i want to do.

Ah, good to know. I did not realize that it would work that way. I was just basing it off of my experiences with the titan, apache, etc where you have to really try to get that scroll bar.

I have also noticed that since the Touch's screen is leveled, not like the Mogul on which your fingers would hit the plastic borders of the screen, using is scroll bars is easier than on other devices.

i also notice on my touch that in PIE you can simply tap the screen on the bottom right and it scrolls down very nicely. No need to be precise at all

Plus you can either do a finger flick to do a fast scroll or you can tap and drag to scroll nice and slowly to still see what you are scrolling past. Might not be the "best" system out there, but with some practice it works better than anything else available in the PPC world.

I agree. I 'complained', more like mentioned, on my first impressions that finger scrolling was not working well for me... but I think it's just a matter of practice.

I am really enjoying the device and all the Touch-screen features.
