i have never had this problem (had my touch for one month, one day)
everyone who is having this problem should list any and all addon programs they are using... are you using POP mail? where are attachments being saved... do you have music? DRM music... if we want to get to the bottom of this we have to see what everyone has in common... so instead of just saying it happened, tell us what you have installed, and your setup.. lets try and link 2 and 2 and figure it out... has anyone had this happen, who has no 3rd party aps.. no email, no music.. just using it as a phone/camera (saving pics to card) something simple and easy... something is going on... obviously... lets see if we can figure it out... p |

Well, the latest from me:
After re-formatting the card to FAT 12 (it was FAT 32) and putting everything back on it I haven't run into any issues thus far. I'll keep an eye on it for a while to see what happens. It MAY have been something to do with the FAT 32 formatting. I dunno. This is a Patriot card, too, so that may have something to do with the issue? I just ordered a Kingston brand 4gb SHDC Micro SD card so we'll see in a little if there are any similar issues with that.

I had the corruption shortly after receiving my Sprint Touch. I took the card out and put it back in and all was well. OK no big deal if I have to do that every now and then. This time it did it and I have not been able to recover. Pull it in and out over and over. Soft resets galore. Hard resets too. I cant even get my PC to read the thing. So I can't format it again. I can keep using it in the phone by making new folders, but I cant get rid of the scrabled ones. I sent and email to Sprint ecare asking for a new phone and a $50 discount off my bill to buy a new card. we'll see what they say...

Well that was fast. Sprint ecare sent me and email stating that I need to take my phone to a Sprint store for diagnostics. And that they are giving me the $50 credit for my memory card. We'll see what the store has to say... |

once i stopped putting my ringers on my sd card the corruption has pretty much stopped so i just want to pass this along to my fellow touch users

Add me to the list of people with corrup SD cards due to the Touch. Never had a problem with the SD card on the Mogul, switched to the Touch using the same SD card, and files and/or directories began to disappear. However, they would magically re-appear after 1-2 resets. This last time, no such luck. Lost a bunch of files and a few directories, and it looks like they're not coming back.
BTW, I don't keep ringers on my SD card. Prior to this last corruption, I made some mods to the cube and deleted some backup files from the SD card. I don't think that any particluar program causes this. I just think that reading/writing to the SD card causes corruption from time to time, sometimes recoverable sometimes not. Hope there will be a fix in the future, but until then, guess I'll ahve to make backups of the SD from time to time. Edit: Formated to fat16 this time; will see if that improves things. Touch ran me back to Mogul...
I'd rather be dead dog slow and reliable with the SD card on the Mogul than quickly rebuilding my SD card on the Touch on a REGULAR BASIS...

Argghhh. This is getting really frustrating to me. So here i thought I was doing ok now after my last refomat of my 2GB card. And guess what, I randomly go to check the memory level and I see that I have like 2MB left of space on my card. I should have like 1GB or more with the files that I have on there now. So, even though I have not had files disappear on me, and no random files with weird names show up this time, I know it is corrupt again.
This is really getting to me. I know it has to do with writing to the card. There has got to be a fix released for this. Any by the way, for all of you who have not had this problem, just give it time. I did not have this happen at all for a month and a half when I first got the phone, and then one day it all started and it has not worked right since. |
