It will get a rev.A update in Q108. Rev.A is overhyped, however. All you're gonna see is faster uploads and latency drop from ~.5sec to ~.15sec (which is the best thing about it). Downloads won't change much. I know this because I use a rev.A data card often.

it wouldnt surprise me one bit if the touch wasn't upgradeable to rev a. the mogul's specs mention it but not the touch.... this is another flashback to the gps enabled feature listed on the mogul but then removed.

for what is worth... i was told by retentions last week that both the mogul and touch will be upgraded at the same time in 2008. when rev a is released. the only bad thing about the report is she also said the gps would be enabled when this is done as well. i wasn't even asking her about the gps.
i know i know. dont belive everything you hear. i was calling last week, complaining about the mogul and tring to get a deal on the touch. i was complaining about bluetooth quality and no gps as advertised. she quickly came back with the above comment. we'll see in 2008. never the less. i am happy with evdo speeds. if your not... try a tmoble phone for a day. lol. |

OMG, i was just going to say that... i had t-mobile... i'm glad i dont have to watch streaming videos on the t-mobile wing, even worse the iphone's edge connection, might as well make it dial up. LOL

Not for nothing folks, but I've been coming through all the technical documents available and one thing that strikes me funny is one simple fact: Goto HTC's site and they list the Mogul as EVDO Rev A upgradeable. They do not list the Touch as upgradeable. Even though it might be the same chipset, sometimes all it takes is not soldering a particular pin on a chip to disable a feature. I use to design electronic products and we did that all the time for OEMs.
One other thing I found fascinating is this little blurb on page 173 of the Touch User's manual: "GPS: Internal GPS antenna" Have fun with that one |
