Interesting review from the AP...

I have to say I agree with all the reviewer's complaints (but I don't think it's quite the worst phone).

I couldn't agree less with this guy. Coming from an Apache this device is like coming up for air after almost drowning. It's quick, responsive, and looks great. WM6 is not the most touch-friendly environment, but it's very doable, esp. if you learn to use a fingernail in the really small areas. I'm of mixed opinion of the cube; it's a neat implementation, but what does it add that's new to the device? I am of the opinion that I only need ONE way to launch an app, i.e. if it's on my today screen I don't need a hardware button or program shortcut. TO that end the cube needing reg. hacks to change the apps is a little disappointing, but again for me that's not really an obstacle to anything.

I wonder if this guy's review highlights the difference between the tech user's experience and the avg. user's experience. I know he is the tech writer for the AP, but come on, it's the AP. It's not a site dedicated to smartphones, and the people who read it, and the employees who work there, are much more likely to be avg. users than the users of this site.

Maybe for the avg. person the Touch really is a crappy phone; I can't really say b/c I don't consider my self avg: tweaking and hacking are part of getting a phone like this to work IMO. Running ANY PDA phone in a stock configuration is a concept beyond me, but for most people that's the expectation-- and I think that's why guys like this reviewer prefer a device like an iPhone over the TOuch. Just my 2 cents.

Wow! The guy wasn't even scrolling his finger in the right direction! They should get someone else to review their phones from now on.

"You have to touch this tiny button here for the email", yeah, unless you figure out how to raise the Touch Cube! Idiot.

HTC Touch

That review was so far off. A mac guy for sure. They did not even mention what the touch actualy does. And what it has have over the icraphone like email and productivity the Icraphone does not even come close. I personaly do not like the touch I would be much happier if I had a working Mogul. The iphone does do some things better and I will give it to apple on the UI pretty good compared to windows mobile. But it does lack some great features that windows mobile has. The one thing that I just don't get is how Microsoft could let the iphone beat them up so bad in the inter browser catagory. Microsoft has been and still is the leader on the desktop in my opion and yes there are other browsers that come close on the desktop but I will stick with IE. On the mobile platform they just fall short and there is no third party browser thats even worth the time closest is picsal but still not that great and deepfish but where is it. IE mobile may have been fine upto pocket pc 2002 but in ver 2003 the browser should have been addresed. Oh well I will stick with Windows Mobile if you want a portable media player get the Icraphone but if you want a great phone with no comparison in productivity it win mobile.

I disagreed with everything he said except for the clock being too big, and not leaving enough room for actual touch interface.

I really do think that they could have spent more time making a nicer interface for the home screen with bigger buttons, but it's still a nice interface. LOL @ him scrolling in the wrong direction. hahha
