Then you need to unlock you’re your phone with
ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Vogue/Users/ImCoKeMaN/Vogue_unlocker_MFG_2.31.exe

And the you can flash to the Verizon Test Rom and DO NO LET CUSTOMIZATIONS

I’m sure this is the hard way but it worked for me.
So if I follow your instructions i will have WM6.1 with GPS?

thanks for the easy to follow instructions.

Well from what I understand all you need to do (coming from the stock Rom) is just flash the new leaked rom ,LET the customizations run and then just use the aGPS fix located here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...VerizonAGPSFix

That should leave you with WM6.1 and GPS you can use with google maps etc..

Amiroquai- I think we are in the same position. Ireally don't want to abandon the WM 6.1 as has been suggested above. I am still researching and will let you know if something is definite. hope you will do the same. I thought it was all worked out in the middle of this forum??? thanks leslie

Thanks but I think that it's pretty much definite, UNLESS you wish to use your GPS with standalone navigation software (and not stream data over the network).
I don't have a data plan and I don't intend on getting on, I have iGO with maps i copied onto the microsd card and the method above will not allow you to use the GPS with those programs, that's where I think things got confusing in the middle of this thread, people started asking about tomtom/iGO and then additional software and mods were needed to bypass the GPS limitaions, the most updated tip I know is that if you intend on using the GPS with standalone GPS software then you SHOULDN'T let customizations run, the rest of the process should still be the same.

I'd still love to hear if you get any further updates and enlightments about it

Let's Get It Straight

Afternoon folks,

I agree with the post above this one. We got sidetracked in the middle of this and now we need to get back on track. So for the sake of all lets start with this post.

For starters if you flash this ROM, and LET customizations run, then you will not be able to use apps like TomTom or iGo. These apps use COM port based GPS, and that will not happen with this ROM. You can use Skywing's Valhalla fix, but this will only give you access to Google Maps.

If you flashed this ROM, and DID NOT let customizations run you should be able to apply the aGPS fix from XDA and then apps like TomTom or iGo will work.

If someone is having different results than the above please respond with exact details on how you got things to operate. For those using custom ROMs I am sure you know what you are doing.

Thanks,
Steve

Thanks Steve- I am not contradicying and like you want to get this straight. I have been 'moonlighting' at Howards Forums and I am getting feedback that my step by step as above will work fine for what I need. Tom Tom and WM6.1 here are a cple of quotes for what its worth. Your opinion is welcome. thanks again

Your steps are fine. You'll see some postings about unlocking and canceling before customizations, but for what you want, there is no need. Only thing that got me was forgetting to go into the phone settings and turn "location on" under services. Enjoy, it really takes this phone to the next level of usefulness and there really is no reason to NOT do this upgrade.

Hello, I did this update a few days ago, and wowee. It made my 6900 so dramatically better, its a delight now. No bugs at all in the upgrade. If on reactivation *2228 option 1 does not work, dial #8899 <send> and someone will answer pretty fast and get you up and running. My only annoyance is that neither HTC nor PCD Phones have this up on their website yet, so VZ Navigator cannot be run. Can be downloaded but not run, as VZ says "your phone is not capable of running VZ Navigator." I didn't have the heart to tell the rep. yes, it does!! Heheh. As to stop customization, I don't know what they're talking about.....the update went without ever asking about this.

Re: Let's Get It Straight

I believe for the most part you are on track. As I mentioned in a previous response I would reverse 3 and 4.
