hey JD, how's it goin bro?

If you knew for sure you were going to be swapping the phone you could downgrade to .40 then load the official rom....of course there's a risk which ImCokeMan explains in his thread, but I have personally downgraded to .40 then flashed the 6.0 official rom , then back to 2.31 w/ 6.1 with no problems...just be aware of the possible problems.

I saw your thread dette, hopefully ImCokeMan will make a re-locker.

Anyone noticed battery problems? Today was the first full day of use for me on this rom. Unplugged at 7:30 AM EST, its not 9:00 PM and battery is @ 8%. I have NEVER see it go this fast. The only real use today was DL'ing my emails, about 150 full messages. Played with the GPS for a couple minutes this morning and made sure to exit the app so not to get battery drain. Even soft reset after. Still after that was complete i had just over 50% at around 11:30 AM. I can usually go 2 full days until this point (stock battery).

Other issue: If i go to Start Menu -> Today, nothing happens. Go through the Settings -> Today, it works. Wierd.

I also have a question regarding the HTC GPS Tool. Should the baud rate be set to 4800? Does this matter? Does this setting effect any other app that utilizes the GPS?

Yeah, I'm also seeing the same drain...
I don't believe the today link is supposed to act the way you want it to. More like a link to the today screen from another program...?

My battery seemed to drop like a rock today after installing the OMJ rom. I'll know more tomorrow when I'm at work since I have a more regular schedule to watch it.

I don't have GPS-Today enabled. I looked up some things using LiveSearch but never used the GPS on it. I tried to lock using Google Maps but it didn't work, so I just closed it and didn't try anything else with GPS.

Edit: After using it today and yesterday at work, I've decided there is no battery drain problem for me.

Another issue i found: In Settings -> Buttons, I do not see any buttons on the list under 1. Select a button.

Typically i map S2U2 to the "camera" button for a quick and easy lock of the device. If i press the button, nothing happens. Anyone else have this glitch?

I'll check detailed status of battery drain tomorrow. Gonna soft reset while on the charger tomorrow and see what i get. No GPS or nothing. Just regular phone, text, email usage. Ill check back in tomorrow afternoon / night.

i forget, does this rom have access to Random Access from the Phone too (versus just when pressing Contacts). i thought i saw a rom like this. id like to add it to my currently installed rom. thought i found a workaround but didnt work. (like when you press Hide Keypad in Phone, the Randem Access screen of Contacts would be nice to show up).
did OMJ use this kinda setup?

Ok well atleast I do have options... Hopefully ImCokeMan will make a re locker .. that would be really nice and handy :) Thats what I liked about the Mogul it was a lot less complicated for loading ROMs and there was a re locker which came in handy for me a couple times i needed the stock ROM

I am Bell user in Canada and I have followed all of the steps listed and everything is up and running. The only thing that I am confused about is the GPS settings as well. I know that the software is supposed to use COM4, but I do not know for sure if this needs to be set under External GPS or not. Theoretically, we are now using Internal GPS, but GPS Viewer only works for me if I have the software COM port under settings set at COM4. Last night I had a good solid lock on satelites and was able to use Google Maps and Live search with the GPS. GPS Today also locked on my location. Since then I have had no luck locking on satelites. It shows Satelites and activity and GPS found under GPS viewer, but no lock today. Most devices that have GPS internally, use AGPS to assist in getting a GPS lock. I was wondering if we are missing this feature, as we did not install the Sprint customizations. If we had a way to get a hold of a .cab file that installed AGPS, I think that it would improve our success in getting a lock. Also if I knew the ideal baudrate to set my GPS at, in Google maps you can manually set the GPS port and baudrate under `Options` If anyone has any advice please advise. I am not a GPS expert.

Yeah, I've noticed that my battery sucks. I'm running OMJs 3.03.04 custom on sprint. I do not use GPS today (never touched it, I believe it is not activated by default now), and I have my pagepool set to 24. I keep my screen brightness set to the second lowest brightness. Kept bluetooth off yesterday. I soft reset after using GPS just in case. I did not use GPS yesterday, unplugged 6:30 am, worked all day and barely talked on the phone (less than 5 min talk time), surfed the web for about 35 min, and my email autochecks once every hour. When I got home at 6pm, I was at about 25%. I did not use my vogue much stock (in fact, I flashed the night I got it) so I don't have much to compare it to, but this seems like really poor battery life for minimal use to me. For those of you that have used either the stock shipped rom for any length of time, or the new "official" release leaked rom, is the battery life significantly better?

And a question for OMJ, any clues as to what is causing the drain? Any settings that can be fiddled with?

Loving the speed and customizations, but being that I am on call overnight a few times a month, I need my phone to last AT LEAST 40 hrs with minimal to average use, which is not going to happen right now.

My battery seems to be good....@ 9pm last night I was @ 50%....I have 4 pop3 accounts that check every 30, and outlook push.....but I only dl headers. I charge every night, and have never seen 2 days on 1 charge on any rom.

Start menu -> Today is meant to show the desktop, not the today settings.

1% battery status is just that, your battery status will show in 1% increments instead of 10%.

regedits include battery tweaks, internet tweaks, etc....too many to list.

I'm not following you 100%, I just checked buttons, remapped to camera album, and it worked just fine. If you are not seeing "button 1" & "button 1 (press & hold)" in the window, you may want to hard reset.

yeah, I'm no GPS expert either so I'm not sure.....I know you can change to com port....I've also heard (& tried myself) that you can remove the battery for 5 min, and it will help.

I don't know why everyone is so up-in-arms about re-locking your phone... I took my phone in several times with a Rev. A/GPS Custom ROM, way before anything official was announced... The guy at the counter isn't going to have a flippin' clue, unless you're running a total visual re-work of WinMo...

Touch Contacts browser

I had tried to flash one of the VX6900 I had received in the past, but it bricked, but one of the things I noticed was that the contacts browser was lacking the touch letter browser that is default on the VX6900 (instead of scrollbar has the whole alphabet)

Anway you can add that to the default verizon package OMJ ?

Mogul, eh? lol, you're in the wrong forum......but to answer your question, WM6.1 now has threaded text, I don't think there is anything you can do.....besides going back to WM6.0.

I have not cooked a verizon specific rom from the official sprint rom. the last verizon rom I cooked was based on the leaked rom, so it was outdated.

yes, grab either the generic clean or custom....and i posted a cab for the verizon stock cube too, back a few posts.

i have done a hard reset and have flashed to the official rom and tried the phone options to start iota..nothing. i just tried your sprint specific one and off the bat that works. i dont want all the bloatware that sprint has.

i tried your own cooking method from the tut, but didnt know what some of the files meant in the sys folder and didnt want to mess things up. ill try it again when i get home.

Maybe it's just me but after flashing to the Official Rom then to the OMJ Generic Custom Rom I had a hard time getting IOTA to run when I'm still connected to active sync. I did a Soft Reset and that didn't help, but once I disconnected from Active Sync I was able to run IOTA successfully.

Can someone verify this?

82% right now.... Very impressed. 10 hours of light use and only 17% reduction. =D>

Now that's what I need, but I have no idea what the diff is between your setup and mine. Are you using AEBPlus for button mapping? That is one thing I'm wondering may be draining my battery, as I am wondering if it is running in the background. Will turn that off tomorrow, see if that makes a difference. Thing is, i'm kinda addicted to AEBPlus, don't know if I could live without it anyways . . .

Any more info you can provide on your setup, e_town?

Thanks for the clean version OMJ, I love it.

Is there anyway you could make an Alltel cube cab like you did for Verizon?

I also configure nueLED to disable all LED's except the charge LED.

yeah, they don't have their own folders, they are mixed into OEMAPPS. When you're trying to remove an unwanted app, the best way to learn what files to delete, is to find an OEM version of that app, ie...from the PPCGeeks Kitchen. See what files are in that OEM that make up the app, then find & delete those files from your kitchen. You'll also need to look at the .rgu in that OEM to see what code it's inserting, then go into the .rgu in OEMAPPS in your kitchen & either delete that code or rem it out.

I installed the Alltel PPST but it won't run out of Windows... Am I doing something wrong?

Anybody else had problems with apps closing apparently on their own? At first I thought I just hit a wrong button, but it's happened enough now that I think they are just closing on their own (or "crashing"?). PIE, Total Commander, etc.

Note concerning an earlier reply: After using it today and yesterday at work, I've decided there is no battery drain problem for me. I plugged it in as little as possible today, played on the internet a bit while at lunch and during a meeting, used google maps once just to show a guy how the GPS works, made a dozen texts and maybe a dozen calls. Unplugged it this morning at 7:30, right now it's 6:45 and battery is at 76%.

Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To check your connection settings and ...blah blah blah

Data works just find if i leave it on automatic. Can you guys try this and see if it is only me with the problems?

The phone is a little sluggish in this V2 rom. But never the less a great rom. Also the full qwerty keyboard does not display properly. It has white letters on a light gray background on the key entry area and also it does not display caps lock or the button that brings you to numbers.
Can you include a cooler calculator in the next update OMJ?

Many Thanks.

I'm having the same problem anytime I switch to Roaming only. I lose my data connection. Other than that nice ROM :)

Nice tip, thanks OMJ.

update on battery life:

Today I started from clean charge, turned off all of the following:
-Email autochecking
-weather auto update
-location
-time synchronization
-AEBPlus (don't think this makes a difference)
-bluetooth

I kept data connection on so that I could easily manually check my email and surf the web. With light use today from 6:30am to 9:30pm I have 43% battery life remaining (45-1hr talk time, 20 minutes of internet, checked email 7-8 times, and like 6 text messages). After talking on the phone for 45min using bluetooth, I'm down to 47%. Not too shabby for a stock battery.

I don't think AEBPlus really has any effect on the battery, going to reinstate that tomorrow and see how it goes. Just turned off all my LEDs.

What page pool size are you running? Lower down to the standard 12MB and most likely the issue will go away. I had the same problem when I tried the recommended 24MB page pool. Many apps would just spontaneously close. At 12MB page pool no more problems. By the way the rom is set to 16MB page pool if you didn't adjust it. The standard page pool for the touch is 12MB (stock rom).
